Ze cake

I suppose I should post on my cake delivery. It actually went really well. I was a bit unhappy with a couple of elements but it's hard to be perfectly happy with your own creation.

I had Jesse help me with the fondant rolling and coloring because it's tough work. Haha.

So.... It is a marble cake with chocolate mousse filling. I used to chocolate buttercream to cover each tier. I then covered each tier with a layer of colored fondant. Then decorated with royal icing piping and chocolate shells. I made the crab and thanks to watching 'Land of the Lost' at the same time, got a pretty good likeness. He was originally supposed to have a drink umbrella in his claw but I forgot to pick one up. Bummer.

Delivering the cake was scary. We had to drive to Griffith park, which is a half hour from my house. On the freeway. And delivered at 11 a.m. So traffic was in the way. Which means braking. Which means I'm holding my breath, praying the cake wont slide. We did make it there all in one piece. Or rather the way we packed it in the element. So yay.

And here's a close-up of the crab. Doesn't he look angry? Haha.
